About Us

Founded in August 2024, the Young Artist Music Project (YAMP) is an immersive music education initiative dedicated to helping young musicians achieve their fullest potential. Through a thoughtfully sequenced curriculum, creative exploration, and a nurturing community, students follow a clear path to success from day one—building confidence, developing skills, and cultivating a lifelong love of music.

At YAMP, we’re redefining the community music school experience in Northeast Florida. We put students’ growth and teachers’ well-being at the heart of everything we do. We offer our teachers some of the highest compensation in the region, provide materials and resources whenever possible to support their teaching, and emphasize a collaborative work environment.

We operate out of Trinity Parish North, located at 6350 County Road 16A, St. Augustine, FL 32092.

What We’re Looking For

Candidates should possess the following qualities:

  • Be a competent musician with excellent teaching skills.

  • Enjoy working with children and youth, and be comfortable teaching in both private and group settings.

  • Be willing to teach the curricula YAMP uses, and accept training when necessary.

  • Have a passion for developing the whole musician, not just focusing on repertoire, but also developing a students’ inner-ear, technique, ability to read music, understanding of music theory, performance skills, and ability to collaborate with other musicians.

  • Be empathetic, honest, collaborative, humble, curious, organized, and possess strong communication skills.

Important Things to Know

  • We are not simply offering space for teachers to teach their students—we’re inviting talented educators to join a collaborative, unified community dedicated to fostering the growth of YAMP students. Teachers follow carefully sequenced curricula and systems to ensure consistency in student development, while bringing their own unique talents and teaching style to enrich the learning experience.

  • We don’t require a specific number of years of experience, or specific degrees. We hire based on character, competency, culture fit, and calling. We do not favor candidates who went to famous conservatories or studied with famous teachers.

  • All teachers are paid the same. We do not pay more based on experience or degrees.

Salary and Benefits

  • Teachers receive a consistent monthly pay—even during months with fewer lessons due to scheduled breaks or student cancellations. For informational purposes only, compensation is based on a rate of $43/teaching hour.

  • Non-teaching events (meetings, recitals, etc.) are compensated at $20/hour.

  • This is a W-2 employee position, which means you don’t have to handle self-employment taxes like you would as a 1099 independent contractor (the way most music schools hire teachers). As a W-2 employee, you also have access to workers’ compensation insurance and certain legal protections. As YAMP continues to grow, we plan to offer paid time off and additional benefits, such as retirement and health insurance.

  • Compensation is raised each year in August as the budget allows.

  • Administrative work (scheduling, billing, marketing, etc.) is handled by us, so you can focus on what you do best—teaching!
